The Mozambique Experience

If images of lazy afternoon siesta's and azure blue seas fill your thoughts, chances are that you may be dreaming of Mozambique. For years the number one destination for world travellers, Mozambique is fast reclaiming its former status as prime seaside destination. The growth in superior tourist facilities supports the natural attractions of Mozambique and its people. You may have heard legends of giant Marlin being caught, or plates of piri-piri prawns served for lunch. Well, that is Mozambique and much more.

Inhaca Island

Inhaca Island is a small-inhabited island, lying just 37 km off the Mozambican capital of Maputo, on the periphery of a large estuarine bay. On the fringe of the tropics, it has a wealth of breathtaking beaches, coral reefs and exotic marine life on offer.

The island features large areas of unspoiled evergreen forest and bush land and large areas of its land and shores have been protected as natural reserve since 1976, providing a unique and pristine environment to enjoy.

Diving From Inhaca Island

Marine Life

The diving Inhaca has on offer is world class. The fish life is virtually untouched and the reefs are unspoiled. Wreck diving and shark diving is possible. Staghorn and plate coral, moray eel potato bass, large school of barracuda and kingfish are in abundance. Dolphins, whale sharks and manta rays are not uncommon during the summer months. The maximum diving depth is 30m with an average depth of approximately 18m. The average water temperature is 22-27 C and water visibility is between 10 - 30m.

The island has plenty to offer. You can fill days by exploring the long white beaches, snorkelling in the azure blue seas, scuba diving along it coral reefs, fishing or simply relaxing at the hotel pool side. An excellent way to spent a holiday.

Here one can enjoy the lazy pace of Africa in the comfort of a superior lodge, professional watersport facilities and a friendly service. The island is easily accessible from Maputo by a daily scheduled boat service, or a short flight.
Deep Sea Fishing

Big game fishing has always been the major attraction of Mozambique and its islands. The dedicated sport fishing boat, an 24ft Orion cat, is fully equipped with a toilet, VHF radio, all safety equipment, fish finder, Shimano Rods and reels, (including Marlin tackle), outriggers and fighting chair. The boat operates under the guidance of a professional captain and expert big game fisherman. The option exists to charter the boat for a full day or a half-day. On every charter, lunch packs are included as well as soft drinks. The centre maintains a well-stocked inventory of lures and tackle, but should you wish to make use of your own, please bring it along.
